Getting around in Phuket is not as hard as we thought. If you want to cover more places in a single day, there are plenty of transportation methods available which suits your needs. When you plan your trip, always think about the mode of transportation you can use to go to your destinations.
Each mode of transportation has several pros and cons. But I consider most of them are safe for travel.
By Foot
Many resorts, hotels, restaurants are near by many attractions. Most streets are filled with crowds and they enjoy the great outdoors. Walking around the city is best way to travel than using a vehicle. It will save you some money also for shopping. You will be able to capture lots of eye-catching views in every corner of the city. I loved my time over there with my husband. We walked while chatting, singing, eating and meeting new people. “8 reasons to visit phuket walking street” shows you more details if you want to know more.
Taxi
Like many other countries, taxi fare is still expensive. There are 2 types of taxis operate in the city. Metered Taxi and Non-metered taxi. If you are looking for something comfortable with A/C, definitely you should go for Taxi. Grab taxi is the most handy method to travel around the city. You don’t need to worry about how to book a Grab taxi as you can use hotel reception or taxi apps in your smart phone to book a taxi.
Tuk Tuk
Tuk Tuk is always the most loved travel method in many Asian Countries. I previously wrote a article about Sri lanka’s Tuk tuk ride . Unlike other Asian countries, Phuket tuk tuk is not the cheapest and it does not have three wheels. Phuket tuk tuk differs when compared with other Asian countries. They use four wheeled Daihatsu as a tuk tuk in Phuket. Tuk tuk is the most expensive transport service in Phuket. But don’t worry you can negotiate the price with the driver.
Most young travelers willing to go by tuk tuk to get that adventurous feeling.
Motorbike
In Phuket, Motorbike ride is popular transportation method for solo travelers and also couples. This method is most suitable for short journeys with less traffic. You can rent a bike from beaches, attraction places, hotels and busy junctions. Riding a bike is free and enjoyable thing in Phuket. But be careful when you ride as there can be muggers. Always try to use crowded streets.
Always read the secure guides, traffic rules, terms and conditions of the renting company before ride by yourself.
Ferry and Speedboat
If you are going to some water activities in Phuket, Ferry and Speedboats are the major forms of transportation. My “Phi Phi Island” Day tour is telling you how you book a speedboat and things you should do and don’t in there.
Phuket has many small child islands which are popular tourist destinations. “Why you should plan to go Phuket, Thailand“ is telling about the islands you can ride by ferries and Speedboats. Note that is these transport services require higher prices than others.
My recommendation is you must book the service “One day Island packages in Phuket“ before 2 or 3 days you are going. It helps you to confirm your ride. Otherwise if there is a large crowd on your travel day it can be very difficult for you to find a one.
If you are booking a speedboat always think very hard as these are super-fast speedboats rides and it might affect your kids and elderly people. If it is not suitable for you the best option is to go for a ferry ride to the island. Ferry ride is very slow when compare with the speedboat, but you can enjoy view for an eternity.
