After the end of the Civil war (2009), the country quickly moved forward and lots of tourists visited and enjoy this beautiful paradise. Public buses are most preferred travel method in Sri Lanka. There are two kind of public buses in Sri Lanka. Government buses and Privates Buses. Government are Red coloured and Private have all kind of colours. There is no difference in bus fare between both buses. But my recommendation is to use public bus as it travels faster and more safer way to travel.

Ok back to topic, today most tourists travel by Bus. They enjoy it also. Buses are main form of the public transportation in the island and bus routes are well connected with every major city. It also is the cheapest than any other transportation methods. But there are some cons also. Travel time can be longer as the traffic in Sri Lanka is unpredictable.
Sri lanka is a fabulous place to travel by train. It is Safe, Friendly, Cheap and Hussle free travel. Taking a train is always good idea to get good experience in sri lanka. Train ride is more relaxed than the bus. That’s why people use train to cross the island travel. Nowadays most of private companies runs some luxury trains to travel around the country. There are,

Here are the main train routes in Sri lanka,
If you are travelling to southern part of the country, travel by Colombo to south line. It passes mainly Colombo, Mountlevina ,Kaluthara , Aluthgama, Galle and Matara
If you are travelling to Hill country, travel by Colombo to East line. It passes mainly Colombo, Kandy, Hatton, Bandarawela, Ella to Badulla. It is the most beautiful train route in Sri Lanka. Most beautiful views can be seen during the ride. Nanu oya, Hatton, Pattipola, Badarawela, Haputhale and Ella are most popular destinations in this route.
After the Civil war people travel to Jaffna from Colombo using North train ride. It passes many religious places. Main stations are Colombo, Polgahawela, Anuradapura, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee to Jaffna.
I want to say train is usually late in Sri Lanka. Even though is can be late, travelling by the train in Sri Lanka is one of most important thing that you shouldn’t miss.

Sri Lanka tourism operates domestic flight to travel around the country. Sri Lanka is beautiful paradise and so many bird eye’s view stunning sceneries are have to watch in air. Domestic flight mainly operated from the Bandaranayaka international airport. Main destinations are Kandy, Bentota, Pasikudha, Koggala, Sigirya, Trincomalee, Colombo- watersedge, Ampara, Jaffna, Nuwaraeliya, Hambantota, Katunaya BIA.
