Horton Plains is one of the most protected areas in central highland of Sri Lanka. It is a full width mountain grassland with a cloudy forest. It consists of a very rich biodiversity.
Sudden whether changes, high lands, low lands, mountains, cliffs, flora, rain forests, plains, waterfalls are the most highlighted items available in Horton Plains.
Anyone who visits definitely fall in love.

Why Hortan Plains so famous ?
Horton Plains was recognized as a World heritage site in 2010. It is one of the coldest and windiest location in the island. It’s a chilling place with a nice tracking path which leads to worlds end and mini world’s end. There are so many ways to reach the World’s End. The view of the landscape is amazing with beautiful creatures.There are lots of species can be found on your way.
How to go to Horton Plains ?
Hortan Plains is 8 km away from Ohiya Railway Station. If you are looking to come by train get off from this station. After that you can take a tuk tuk which costs you around $12 to go Hortan Plains.
There is a 32 km gap between Nuwala Eliya and Hortan Plains. This way is easiest and more comfortable than others. If you are coming from Colombo- Badulla train get off from Pattipola train station to go there.

My Experience to Hortan Plains
We went there last year when we were in Sri Lanka. So Planned to go there from Nuwara Eliya as it was the easiest way from our hotel. We stayed in a hotel called as Grand hotel Nuwara Eliya. I will share my hotel experience with you in my future posts.
It was cold and cloudy morning. We started our trip after taking a wonderful breakfast from the hotel.
We started our trip around 10 am. The day was cloudy and soon the fog covered us. After purchasing our ticket, we started to climb the hill. The plains was absolutely beautiful and greenery. Narrow roads , Slippery muddy pud, tiny lakes, waterfalls were always refresh our journey. As I remember there are 2 ways to go the end point. We decided to take the longest path to Worlds End because many say that it is beautiful. You know , Difficult path always leads to a beautiful destination. After around 2 or 3 hours we came to the top of the hill to see World’s end.

Baker’s Fall
It was an amazing experience to all of us. We enjoyed it a lot. On the way we managed to capture a beautiful waterfall. Worlds end has beautiful landscape and a magnificent view of beautiful waterfalls. It is known as Baker’s Fall. Here are some pictures of Baker’s fall.
We were so lucky on that day because even though is was foggy, we managed to see the worlds end clearly. But after few minutes clouds covered us and no one was able to see it again. If you love trekking or camping, this is the best place to deal with.
